Feeling: Alignment
In this letter, I reflect on a season of change and opportunity, from red carpets to McLaren HQ and the lessons it’s taught me about showing up in person, trusting your instinct, and building a life that truly aligns with who you are.
Fifth letter: 7th October 2025
Dear Leo,
Dear Leo,
It’s been an exciting time for your dad lately. A lot of change, new opportunities, a new agent and management, and even a personal assistant to help keep the plates spinning. Between your mum and me, there’s a lot of good stuff happening. We’re on the wave, so to speak.
Earlier this month I was on the red carpet with your uncle Sam. Today, I’m being driven to McLaren HQ for an exclusive tour of the F1 department and a lunch meeting about a potential partnership.
It’s funny how the world works. But here’s what I’ve noticed about my own good fortune over the past few weeks: life gives you what you deserve. Nothing just lands in your lap, you have to make it happen. Most things start with a conversation. And the most powerful conversations don’t happen on WhatsApp or Teams. They happen face-to-face, in the room, where people can feel your presence and see who you really are. Those interactions carry tremendous value, and none of it goes unnoticed.
Whatever career you choose, make sure it aligns with who you are as a person, with the values you hold as a man. You’ll hear that often as a young adult, but take it seriously. If you head this advice, you’ll save time and find your own wave much sooner than I did. My own identity in the creative world with partnerships, storytelling and content has never been stronger, because I’m finally building from a place that feels true to me. A place of inspiration versus desperation. (We will revisit this concept when I write to you about goal setting).
And that’s what I want for you: to trust your instinct. Just as each of us sees, hears, tastes, and moves through the world differently, your instinct is yours alone. It’s your north star. Don’t let yourself be swayed too easily by the opinions of others. If you feel something, say it. If you believe something, pursue it.
This reminds me of something your grandad once shared with me. He called me into his study at home, which didn’t happen often. He wanted to play me a song that meant a lot to him. He wanted me to hear its message. The song was I’m Not Moving by Phil Collins. Listen closely when you hear it: the lyric that stuck with me most is, “If you feel it, do it, you don’t need a reason.”
Collaborate with people, work in teams, listen to people but dont ever forget your value. You have something special, even at your age right now, almost 4, you have the charisma, the personality and confidence that has already seperated you from the herd. You will do good things with your life, just dont forget who are and what means the most to you.
Final note: You attract success, you don’t create it.
Just be you, the rest will follow.
Always,
Daddy
